Comic book characters don't come much more brutal than The Watchmen's Rorschach, a lethal vigilante with a black and white face and the same coloured ethos when it comes to delivering his own kind of justice.

In Zack Snyders 2009 interpretation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons's near holy graphic novel, Jackie Earle Haley's turn as the trench coat-wearing character is a knock out, from a smooth opening scene all the way to that moment we all loved from the comic where he raises hell in prison, this character elevates Snyder's movie to being something as close to art as the genre had seen up until that point.
