15 Terrible Movies That Actually Improve Good Ones
5. RIPD Improves Men In Black
The Bad
RIPD is so bad it does not deserve the effort of typing the dots in the abbreviation. Nor does it deserve the time of discussing but here we find ourselves.
Based on a comic book and attempting to tell a story about secret ghost agents who hunt other ghosts but they're evil for some reason, it stars Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges as two of these agents paired together to quash another typical world ending event.
RIPD is just an awful film, and that cannot be said enough. The CGI is awful, the action is awful... It looks and unfolds like a late night B-movie you'd find on the horror channel and if it weren't for Deadpool, Reynolds career would have died here.
How It Improves Men In Black
The similarities between RIPD and Men In Black (M.I.B.) are numerous. In every instance of comparison M.I.B. is superior in every way, even including the abbreviations because there's one less letter to type.
The chemistry between a young Will Smith and a young-but-still-looks-old Tommy Lee Jones is a joy to behold even now, and despite the advances in CGI the aliens in M.I.B. trump the ghosts in RIPD every single time.
Simply put it is better than RIPD at all the things and you should never watch RIPD ever, ever.
