15 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

11. Movie 43

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 4% Why It Sucks: When directors have to bully and coerce their cast into appearing in the film in the first place, it's never going to be a recipe for success. Like almost all anthology films, Movie 43 is totally all over the place, though the majority of the stories have a few common elements: they're overly crude, childish, unfunny, and give enormously talented actors (such as Kate Winslet and Naomi Watts) something to regret for the rest of their careers. Though it moves fast, the hit-miss gag ratio is depressingly low, causing critic Richard Roeper to label it "the Citizen Kane of awful". Why It'll Become A Cult Classic: Because, despite being unambiguously terrible, the movie is unique and has a distinct personality, serving up a cinematic experience like pretty much nothing else out there. The fact that it stars so many Hollywood A-listers (who were ambushed into starring in the film) only makes its awfulness more perversely appealing, as viewers can freeze-frame at key moments to see the actor's souls attempting to escape. Widely agreed to be one of the worst films ever made, that claim itself will allow Movie 43 to endure as a "so bad it's good" classic for years to come, one distinguished by its inexplicably incredible cast.
