15 Terrible Recent Movies Destined To Become Cult Classics

10. Kick-Ass 2

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 29% Why It Sucks: Kick-Ass 2 fell incredibly short of the original film's brilliance, bringing back most of the cast from the first film but doing little with them worth watching. What was shocking and hilarious the first time (namely the violence and Chloe Moretz's audacious Hit-Girl performance) was banal and boring the second time around, and though Jim Carrey provided some brief relief as Colonel Stars and Stripes, he's barely in the film long enough to register much of a pulse. Then there's the out-of-character actions (Dave's girlfriend dumping him suddenly to write her out of the movie), and the scatological humour (the "sick stick"), which feels a world away from the well-drawn characters and smart satire of the original film. Why It'll Become A Cult Classic: The film nevertheless went down better with fans as opposed to critics, even if it's widely agreed to be a vastly inferior follow-up. It's still rooted in the same awesome universe that made the first film so great, so there's an inherent charm there that can't escape, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse is pretty hilarious as The Motherf***er, which is really enough for many fans of the original to give it a free pass even if it misses the mark frequently enough.
