15 Upcoming Comic Book Movie Performances That Will Kick Ass

15. Michael Keaton As Vulture

Spider-Man Homecoming Vulture

The Film: Spider-Man: Homecoming

Having already played one of cinema's most famous comic book heroes and then deconstructed the whole experience for a meta performance in Birdman that earned him an Oscar nomination, seeing Michael Keaton play a villain in the genre is as exhilarating as it is surprising.

He might have seen his profile drop slightly after some fallow years up to Birdman, but Keaton is back at the top thanks to a string of accolades around that, Spotlight and The Founder and audiences seem to be falling in love with his idiosyncratic on-screen brand again.

Playing a villain gives him another opportunity to stretch the more theatrical muscles he showed off so well in Beetlejuice, and the idea of Adrian Toomes as a broken toy, rejected and desperate should play into his wheelhouse brilliantly. There's already been some flashes of his animal passion, and we should be looking at a rare MCU villain who is actually great.
