The Scene: Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is recruiting young new members for his team with Bonaparte (Kelsey Grammer), as the pair watch Thorn (Glen Powell) climbing a cliff. He loses his footing and quickly deploys a parachute. Why It Sucked: The Expendables movies almost seem to pride themselves on how closely they can resemble bargain bin B-movies, but EX3 featured a host of truly, laughably poor visual effects, the worst of which was this horribly-animated parachute deployment. It's safe to say that pretty much any teenager with a copy of 3D Studio Max could render a more convincing model than this: the cartoonish opening of the chute is surely one of the most egregiously awful visual effects in a major Hollywood movie in years, and a true embarrassment for a $90 million production.
