15 Worst Superhero Movie Costumes Ever

4. Green Lantern (Green Lantern)

Years before the all-digital Cyborg suit made our collective eyes bleed, Ryan Reynolds one-upped him with the widely-ridiculed, entirely CGI Green Lantern costume.

Because director Martin Campbell wanted to skirt clear of giving Hal Jordan a campy rubber costume, he instead opted for a "state of the art" VFX suit, achieved by having Reynolds wear a motion capture suit and pasting a CGI one over the top. There's more to it than that, of course, but you get the idea.

Sadly the end result looks embarrassingly artificial, and not even in the cool, otherworldly way. The effects are distractingly floaty and cartoonish for a $200 million movie, and for some reason even the bloody face mask is CGI.

On the plus side it did make for a few hilarious jokes in the Deadpool movies, and hopefully Warner Bros. has learned their lesson for when they eventually reboot the character in the DCEU.
