15 WTF Moments From BAFTAs 2017
14. Stephen Fry's Opening Speech
Trust Stephen Fry to come out with a ton of outrageous zingers in his opening speech, ranging from hilarious to cringe-worthy.
For the bad, a Danny Dyer joke bombed considering how many Americans were in the audience, Fry then had to pretend The Girl on the Train was a good film while introducing Emily Blunt, and attempted a terrible Moonlight joke pertaining to the Michael Jackson song "Blame It on the Boogie".
But there was plenty of good: he referenced Donald Trump calling Meryl Streep overrated, stole a kiss from Streep, commended Emma Stone's La La Land performance for "pretending to like jazz", called Casey Affleck "one of the best actors in his family" and in introducing the first award of the night, said it would be determined by "who the Russians have decided has won."
