16 Actors Confirmed For Star Wars Episode IX

1. NEW: Keri Russell

One of the most exciting additions to the cast, Keri Russell is touted to play anybody from Rey's long-lost mother to Luke Skywalker's wife, Mara Jade.

For the former it would mean delving into what Kylo mentioned about Rey's parents being "filthy junk traders", whereas the latter could shed more light on just how Luke went from galaxy-saving hero, to shoe-gazing loner.

Going with Mara Jade also means making a character from the Expanded Universe/Legends books "canon" insofar as the movies go, but with other small-name characters like Saw Gerrera coming into Rogue One, it's not entirely without precedent.
