4. Robert Sheehan

Irish actor Robert Sheehan has had considerable success in TV shows Misfits and Fortitude, though when it comes to significant movie roles, he's mostly been left wanting (unless you count his recent appearance in the risible Geostorm).

Sheehan's film career looks set to surge next year, though, by starring in the $100 million Peter Jackson-produced adaptation of Philip Reeve's sci-fi adventure book Mortal Engines. If that covers the blockbuster base, he'll also appear in Duncan Jones' long-awaited Netflix sci-fi film Mute, starring opposite Alexander Skarsgard, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux.

It's certainly the actor's most promising year to date, and if Mortal Engines is even remotely successful, the ceiling will no doubt be raised on the sorts of big-budget roles he's offered in future.
