16 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About Captain America: Civil War

14. Hulk Has Been Brushed Aside Too Handily

The question of whether the Hulk will ever get a stand-alone movie is for another place, but quite when he will reappear in the MCU is one of Marvel's most pertinent issues.

If he does come back for Civil War and is held accountable for his destruction in South Africa, that robs any weight from his decision to flee at the end of Age Of Ultron. If he doesn't, it's going to seem like the Avengers are arguing about an issue without ever actually dealing with the gigantic green elephant in the room.

Instead of dealing with the Hulk in a tangible way that might have actually fed more into the emotion of his arc (his guilt, his lack of control and the destruction of his personal relationships), Marvel instead decided to tie him up in a nice little package. "Oh, he's probably on holiday in Fiji, or something. He'll turn up at some point."

That's not how you answer a compelling question. That's how you ignore it, which is all the more obvious when you consider his narrative arc in Age Of Ultron: one minute he's worrying about being out of control, and Hulk hates "puny Banner", and then the big green monster is logical and complicit enough to pilot a quinjet off over the horizon.

It's like it was just their way of avoiding Planet Hulk.
