Sometimes considered the Ed Wood of Hong Kong cinema, Godfrey Ho has directed some truly odd films over the years. At their best, Ho‘s bizarre cine-mash ups are entertaining enough: Ninja Terminator is a great Saturday night film, and Majestic Thunderbolt is perhaps the greatest bad film you’ll see. The horror-action spectacle Diamond Ninja Force, however, takes the nonsensicalness to a new level.

In the film, Ninja Master Gordon (Richard Harrison) just wants to go around Hong Kong taking pictures of his girlfriend. But nope. When an excavation on a building site reveals some bones and human remains, naturally a sinister gang of evil ninjas called the Black Ninja Clan see this as an opening to reassert their dominance. Things just get more ludicrous from there.

Compendiously, the Black Ninja Gang decides to utilize some form of dark magic to raise various "ghost ninjas" (who appear courtesy of a completely different film) in an attempt to force a family out of a property that they’re refusing to sell.

Bottom line: At no point in this film will you not be completely baffled as to what the hell is going on. You have to wonder if the people reading the dubbed dialogue thought it made sense? Or did they know it was crazy? Do lines like “There are no such things as ghosts. Only ghost ninjas” seem at all normal to anyone?
