The Pitch: George Clooney directs an incredible ensemble cast - including himself, Matt Damon, John Goodman and Bill Murray - in a war drama about an Allied outfit tasked with rescuing fine art from the Nazis during World War II.

What Happened?: On paper this seemed like a sure-fire Oscar contender, but ultimately proved far too keen to rely on the inherent charm of its cast while offering up little unique or clever in the script department.

Stodgy and boring in the way the worst "prestige" pics are, The Monuments Men is an extremely forgettable film that wastes an immaculate cast. With a more canny writer, this could've been a classic.
