17 Movie Villains Who Completely Ruined Your Childhood

15. Scar - The Lion King

Voiced by Jeremy Irons, who to be honest, could make a recital of the Yellow Pages sinister, Scar is a double-crossing scheming murderer who somewhat unthinkably made his mark in a Disney children€™s film. The catalyst for his heinous ways all stems from the fact he€™ll never get what he wants: as the film opens, his brother Mufasa is king, and when his wife bears him a son, Simba, Scar€™s hope of reigning terror upon the land is quashed - fuelling a murderous blood lust that sees him align with his pride's natural enemies, the hyenas. His tactics for inflicting terror form a sort of triptych that unfolds across the space of one scene. First off, he murders his brother in the most painful way imaginable by throwing him off a cliff into the path of a stampede; secondly he does so in front of Simba, and thirdly he then blames Simba for killing his own dad, and sends him off to exile (while also ordering a hit on him too). Not only has the poor cub watched his dad become a buffalo hoof buffer, he€™s now riddled with guilt. Scar€™s method for causing a whirlwind of pain for other people is so exacting, because then Simba heads off into the jungle for the remainder of his childhood. The lesson here: if bad things happen that aren€™t your fault, you€™ll probably get sent to your room anyway. And forced to eat bugs.
