17 Movies That Critics And Fans Just Didn't Agree On

14. Spy Kids

RottenTomatoes Score: 7.2

IMDB Score: 5.5

Remember Spy Kids? The 2001 franchise-starting family adventure movie is a rare example of a high-concept genre film that scored better with critics than audiences. This almost never happens, simply because general viewers are far more easily swayed by action and nifty CGI while less deterred by bad writing.

With a stunning 93% critical approval rating in addition to its strong 7.2 average score, it really does feel like critics gave this one a pretty easy ride. Is it a fun movie? Totally, but is it all that memorable? Not really.

It's a well-produced, three-star smattering of stylised nonsense, so with most viewers giving the movie a 6/10 rating, audiences were closer to the mark than critics, it seems.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
