18 Crucial Questions For 2016's Most Anticipated Movies

4. Will Warcraft Or Assassin's Creed Break The Video Game Movie Curse?

The Question: With video games performing notoriously terribly with critics (and often at the box office too), will either Duncan Jones' Warcraft or Justin Kurzel's Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin's Creed manage to buck the trend and serve up the first genuinely great video game movie? The Likely Answer: This is a tricky one: Warcraft looks like a solid if surprisingly generic fantasy film, and it'll probably earn solid reviews (we're thinking 65% on the Tomatometer?) alongside a huge box office. Creed's first images have proven divisive with the fanbase, though it seems like a fairly easy property to adapt into a half-decent film, and with so much talent attached, it's hard to believe the film won't be watchable in the very least as well as financially successful. The curse will be broken, but we'll probably still holding out for the first great video game movie: these will be merely satisfactory-to-good.
