18 Great Actors Totally Wasted In James Bond Movies

5. Mathieu Amalric

Played: Dominic Greene in Quantum of Solace.

Mathieu Amalric is a very well-regarded and talented French actor with plenty of memorable roles to his name - his lead turn in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is perhaps his most acclaimed performance.

Unfortunately, the single most well-known film he's been in is Quantum of Solace, in which he played the most boring Bond villain of all time. Hell, even his name will have you nodding off.

Once again, the actor is not to blame (although perhaps a performer with more physical presence would've fit the part better). The writing left Amalric with nothing to do and his performance is ultimately forgettable, though far from awful.

Having a down-to-earth, realistic businessman as the villain was a solid idea and had the script given Amalric literally anything to do whatsoever, one gets the sense that this character could've worked better. Sadly, it wasn't to be, and Amalric was totally wasted.
