12. Gemma Arterton
Played: Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace.
Since the Brosnan era, playing a Bond Girl hasn't been nearly as thankless a role as it used to be. There have been exceptions but the Bond Girls have generally been given more shade and more agency, which has really improved them as characters.
Unfortunately, Strawberry Fields was a totally unfulfilling part, much like many of the Bond Girls of yesteryear. She's a pointless character and she was clearly only there to give the mostly sexless Quantum of Solace a love scene, so it's a damn shame that an actress like Gemma Arterton was roped in for it.
Arterton has gone from strength to strength since her entertaining debut performance in the St Trinians reboot and so far, her career has been very impressive, with her lead turn in Their Finest perhaps being her best work so far. Even when stuck in something as underwhelming as 2010's Clash of the Titans she still did a solid job.
As you'd expect, Gemma Arterton is fine as Strawberry Fields, but it was a meaningless part and she deserved far better than this.
