5. Paul Newman - Cars 3

The Role: Retired veteran race car Doc Hudson, who died by the time Cars 2 rolled around, but will appear in Cars 3 in flashback form.

Why It's Unexpected: Paul Newman died almost a decade ago, so just about nobody was expecting any more roles from him. However, Pixar reportedly ended up with almost 30 hours of voice recordings from Newman's work on the original film, giving them enough material to include Doc in flashback form.

Will It Work?: It's hard to imagine Pixar doing this with anything but the utmost respect for Newman and his family, so it'll likely be totally respectful, and maybe even add an unexpected emotional dimension to the Cars franchise.
