Though not the most beloved of the Avengers team-up films, Age of Ultron delivered a few gems as one of the MCU's darker outings, with the overarching themes of hopelessness and fear permeating its two and a half hour run time.

One of the saddest and most poignant moments in the film came when Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver sacrificed himself to save Hawkeye and a civilian child from being shot, blocking the bullets with his own body. His last words to Hawkeye, "You didn't see that coming," mirror his earlier interactions with the Avenger before they'd begun fighting on the same team.

Memorable for how well it was delivered, all music and sound muting as Quicksilver's body hits the ground, and Scarlet Witch's grief as she feels her brother die from far away, this scene was one of the most emotional in the film. It's compounded by Hawkeye's own reaction of wordless shock, quite possibly pushing him to the retirement he's said to have gone into after the film's end.
