15. Ronan Dies Like A Chump - Guardians Of The Galaxy

The Film

Though widely viewed as the MCU's first major "gamble", Guardians of the Galaxy's charming cast and characters, best-of-class visuals and gleefully cartoonish tone cemented it as a major breath of fresh air for a franchise that, in 2014, was catching its first whiff of so-called "Marvel fatigue."

The Moment

Now, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) ranks as one of the MCU's worst villains to date, no question, which was exemplified no better than him being dispatched like the also-ran baddie he was in the movie's third act.

Ronan is distracted by Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) enthusiastic song-and-dance routine just long enough for Drax (Dave Bautista) to shatter his warhammer, allowing the Guardians to grab the Orb and obliterate Ronan with it.

Granted, it's admirable that writer-director James Gunn attempted to subvert the usual CGI-drenched shenanigans of Marvel fare, but it really just underlined that this movie really didn't give a damn about its main antagonist, like, at all. Just imagine how even better it could've been if Ronan felt remotely threatening or compelling.
