Both for better and for worse, 2017's summer of big-budget blockbuster movies has had audiences raising their eyebrows, laughing their a**es off, and maybe even mouthing, "What the f***!?"

Whether you actually enjoyed these movies or not, each nevertheless served up at least one startling, baffling, outrageous, hilarious or atrocious moment that beggared belief and had you wondering exactly what the Hell you just saw.

Some scenes were wholly intended to blindside audiences for comedic or dramatic effect, whereas others were just woefully misguided creative decisions that left viewers scratching their heads and wondering how someone actually signed off on them.

From a superbly sly Marvel plot twist through to some absurd casting decisions, not-so-subtle sexual innuendo and at least two scenes that should never end up in animated movies, this summer delivered more than its fair share of veritable WTF moments.

And of course, some epically weird spoilers will follow for most of the summer's biggest movies...

There are almost too many WTF moments to choose from in the latest Fast and the Furious movie, but nothing tops the sequence in which Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) boards the villainous Cipher's (Charlize Theron) plane in order to rescue Dom's (Vin Diesel) kidnapped infant son.

Cue The Stath placing a pair of headphones on the baby's head, playing a Chipmunks song, and then proceeding to violently annihilate an entire plane full of Cipher's goons, while holding the baby car seat, kid and all, in the other hand.

Statham's banter with the baby, such as asking whether it was him or one of the dead goons who crapped themselves, is the hilarious icing on a totally outrageous cake.
