Kimmel then went on to note that Donald Trump hadn't Tweeted at the Oscars over the course of the ceremony, so decided to send him a message, with his phone's readout being transmitted onto the Dolby Theatre's big screen.

He messaged the President of the United States, "U up?", and added the hashtag #Merylsayshi, given Trump's infamous recent words about Meryl Streep being "overrated."
