Of course the mastermind behind the food escaping their hell would end up being a lump of chewed up gum riding a wheelchair with glasses that is clearly a thinly veiled cheeky homage to Stephen Hawking. Why would you even doubt it?

Gum is probably the film's most outrageous character (even if there's nothing but affection in his characterisation), and he definitely will cause some cringing.

And even worse, he makes absolutely no sense. He's another character who shouldn't be alive, since he's been unwrapped, chewed and left for dead, and even accounting for his "disability", he breaks the rules of food "death" fundamentally.
