When Scarlet Witch administers a hallucination to Black Widow, she flashes back to her youth, where she was trained as a young assassin and experimented upon. There is vague mention of a graduation ceremony by her teacher (played by Julie Delpy), the nature of which is later revealed when the team are hiding out with Hawkeye's family. It turns out that the end of the assassin training was to sterilise the agent. When Bruce says to Natasha that he can't have a normal life with her and certainly can't have kids, she says that neither can she. It's a relatively unexpected moment and adds a little development to the character, even if the flashback itself does look a bit cheesy (especially the attempt to make Scarlett Johansson look younger by just tying her hair back).
