Secondly, he doesn't die, it's more of an upgrade - a levelling up if you will, similar to Jigglypuff's transformation into Wigglytuff, or Daniel Radcliffe's evolution from awkward dork to genuine sex symbol. So he becomes more evolved and immaculately clean. Even in the film adaptations he tends to stay grey because his power and his magical abilities are underestimated and all Jackson really concentrates on are his fireworks.
