20 "Twin" Films That Were In Competition With Each Other

7. Babe Vs. Gordy

1995 could affectionately be called the year of the pig, with not one but two major talking pig releases. Babe was the more imaginative of the two, telling the story of a lovable piglet who becomes adept at sheepherding and wins the heart of the farmer (James Cromwell) who originally intended to slaughter him.

Gordy is a much more traditional family film, with the titular pig headed out on a road trip to find his family, encountering a cast of characters along the way. In another era, it'd be a perfectly digestible piece of family entertainment. But it had the added burden of competing with Babe, a film so moving and heartfelt it turned Cromwell into a vegan activist who has been arrested several times at protests.
