Not just the pick of the sequels, Die Hard 4.0 ranks among Bruce Willis’ best movies from the last fifteen years, and also proved to be a good showcase for director Len Wiseman.
Like all the best sequels, it also works well as a standalone effort, with enough shootouts, fights in elevator shafts and free running Frenchmen to give an audience its money’s worth. Not content with getting a sassy back-and-forth going between him and Justin Long or sending bad guy Timothy Olyphant an advert for mail-order brides after killing his girlfriend, Bruce even brings down an F35 jet in one scene.
Then along comes Kevin Smith’s Boba Fett-obsessed character to plug the story holes and offer comic relief. Where was this guy when A Good Day To Die Hard was shooting?
