20 Actors You Didn't Know Almost Played X-Men

8. Aaron Taylor-Johnson Was Almost Cyclops

Though he will get his chance to play a mutant (but not a mutant) in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron thanks to the scheming Nazi-like HYDRA scientists unveiled at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Aaron Taylor-Johnson almost followed up his career-making performance as Kick-Ass with another superhero role under Matthew Vaughn in First Class.

According to a news report on AICN back in 2010, Taylor-Johnson was 100% locked in to work with his former director again, this time as Scott Summers in the X-Men prequel, which would have fit at the time, since internet commentators were basing the First Class cast on the assertion by Professor Xavier in the first X-Men movie that Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops had been among his first students.

Ultimately, despite some teasing by Matthew Vaughn on Twitter suggesting that Lucas Till might actually be playing Cyclops and not Alex Summers, Scott never appeared - though it surely has to be nailed-on that he will appear in Apocalypse. Maybe Taylor-Johnson will get his chance then, even with Quicksilver under his belt.
