sxsx In the nineties and early noughties, Julia Roberts (like Michelle Pfeiffer) was probably one of the most famed and critically acclaimed actresses in the world. She appeared in major Oscar worthy films such as Erin Brockovich and Richard Curtis' Notting Hill, and at this time she was amidst a vast purple patch in her career. However, ever since this prominent and distinguished period, Roberts' career has steadily been subsiding downwards. In the last decade or so, she has been unsuccessful in emulating her earlier benchmarks and in this barren phase of her career she has featured in very few big box office hits. So when the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side" came through her letterbox, you'd assume she'd be hasty in latching onto an opportunity to resurrect her film career and once again be a strong contender in the Oscar season. After all, success in this role, could have been the platform to revitilized prominence in Hollywood! However, for some unknown reason, Roberts shunned a chance to appear in this film. With a drab period of 12 years without an Academy Award nomination to her name, this decision seemed like a strange one.
