20 Actors That Were Almost Cast In The Lord Of The Rings

2. Uma Thurman - Arwen and Eowyn

During the lengthy casting process for The Lord Of The Rings, Uma Thurman's name was heavily linked with both Arwen and Eowyn, the trilogy's two most prominent female roles. Peter Jackson initially wanted Thurman to join the cast as Arwen, but when the actress fell pregnant she was forced to drop out, with Liv Tyler drafted in as her replacement. As mentioned earlier in the article, when it came to casting the roles of Faramir and Eowyn for the final two instalments, Thurman and then-husband Ethan Hawke were in negotiations, and in a 2008 interview the actress confirmed that she had been in talks, and also expressed her regrets, saying; "I wish I had done it. I had a small child at the time, and I couldn't go away for a year... Oh, I truly wish I could've been able to take that plunge, and maybe I should have, but I just couldn't at the time."

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
