11. Sally Field - Alice (Friday The 13th)

Sean S. Cunningham had a title and an image (the Friday The 13th logo smashing through a pane of glass) but not much else. With the help of writer Victor Miller, they created a horror film that would go down in history. The plot, of course, takes us through a fateful day and night at Camp Crystal Lake. The date, conveniently, is Friday, June 13th. A large group of attractive, nude, drug-abusing, fornicating teens are systematically slaughtered by an off-camera killer. Everyone dies expect for the practical (and quite lucky) Alice. Sally Field. who had just done Smokey And The Bandit with Burt Reynolds auditioned for the role of Alice, but lost the final girl role to Adrienne King, who was an unknown at the time. Probably safe to say that it was for the best.
