15. Sandra Bullock - Helen Lyle (Candyman)

Helen Lyle is a graduate student conducting research for her thesis on urban legends. While interviewing freshmen about their superstitions, she hears about a local legend known as Candyman. After some investigating the myth becomes debunked. There is no Candyman and whilst she may have been given a nasty scar from one his deluded followers she can now laugh at the ridiculous idea of such a thing truly existing. Of course, not too long afterwards she meets the man himself face to face. Virginia Madsen played the character of Helen but if she were to not be available the filmmakers second choice was none other than Sandra Bullock. At the time, Bullock's most notable role was in the romantic comedy Love Potion No. 9. The role would have been a major break for the actresses, but at the same time may have soured her chances at getting a role as the naïve but lovable cop Lt. Lenina Huxley in Demolition Man. Perhaps her career would have been "prematurely terminated."
