John Sessions was a veteran character actor across TV and film of almost four decades, and a beloved comedian known for appearing on British TV series such as Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Stella Street, Spitting Image, and QI.

On film, Sessions played British prime ministers Harold Wilson and Ted Heath in Made in Dagenham and The Iron Lady, and also notably portrayed both Macmorris in Kenneth Branagh's Henry V and Salerio in Michael Radford's The Merchant of Venice.

On Twitter, QI's Stephen Fry fondly recalled his friend:

"I’m already missing Johnny Sessions dreadfully. As warm, vulnerable, lovable and loving as anyone can be. And so so much talent. He could make me laugh until I was sick and dizzy with pleasure and exhaustion. I can’t bear that he’s gone."

Sessions died of a heart attack on November 2, aged 67.
