20 Actors Who Shocked Us With Their Singing Ability

17. Ewan McGregor

Moulin_Rouge The year was 2001. I was thirteen years old, and at the time I only knew Ewan McGregor from Star Wars and that movie about the heroin addicts that my parents didn't know I had watched. So when I saw Moulin Rouge and he started belting out that Elton John song, to say that I was a bit stunned is an understatement. It didn't seem fair to me that someone could look like that, be Obi-Wan Kenobi, and have a lovely singing voice on top of it all. Since then, he's sung in other roles, even doing a brief run of Guys and Dolls on the West End. But Moulin Rouge, that crazy, frenetic movie, will always stand in time as the moment when we all collectively realized that Obi-Wan could sing.
