20 Actors You Didn't Know Almost Starred In Jurassic Park Movies

Around 1991 and 1992, Ellie Sattler was about as hot an upcoming role as could possibly be imagined. At one point or another, names as eye-catching as Gwyneth Paltrow, Robin Wright, Julianne Moore, Helen Hunt, Teri Hatcher and Elizabeth Hurley were linked to the movie, with some getting as far as auditions. Clearly, Moore impressed enough to get a call-back for the sequel.

But one name that was attached to a significant amount of the pre-production news was Sandra Bullock. She hadn't yet made it "big" with Demolition Man and Speed (which came in 1993 and 1994 respectively) but the news was pretty clear that she was being hotly tipped for Dr Sattler.

Unfortunately for her - and indeed for the rest of the linked names - Spielberg had already come to the conclusion that he wanted Laura Dern to take on the role and Bullock was left to concentrate on her star-making role in Speed.
