20 Amazing Facts About All About Eve
7. All About Eve Saved Bette Davis' Career
Bette Davis herself has frequently credited the film for “resurrecting her for the dead”. After a battle with Jack Warner, Davis departed from the studio which had built her career up for eighteen years.
Before All About Eve, she had found herself in an unescapable plethora of box office flops which affected her career badly. She was no longer in demand like she was in the late 1930s/early 1940s.
Because of this, Bette Davis has only ever showed gratitude to Joseph L. Mankiewicz for casting her as Margo Channing as it became one of her greatest movie roles ever. She said in her autobiography that it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of her life and every day’s work felt rewarding.
