19. J. Michael Straczynski (Thor)

After a stellar run on The Amazing Spider-Man, screenwriter J. Michael Straczynski reintroduced Thor to the Marvel Universe with a new costume and a much appreciated lack of Shakespearean dialogue. Straczynski was just what the character needed, and his run had a small influence on the movie, especially as he helped put the script together. As a thank you, the writer made a cameo as one of the many locals who tried and failed to lift Mjolnir.
