20 Avengers Who Will Never Be In The Movies

17. Moondragon

The 19th Avenger, like many Marvel heroes, also started off as a villain. In her case, she was Madame MacEvil (yes, you read that right), but these days you can call her Heather Douglas and you'll find her alongside the Guardians of the Galaxy (pretty much every Marvel hero seems to wind up in that team). Trained by Thanos's father and the other monks on Titan, Moondragon is a genius telepath and martial arts expert. She's also used one of the Infinity Gems. Most notably, though, the bisexual Moondragon once mentally enslaved Thor to be her lover. Why she won't be in the Avengers movies: Although Moondragon's life story is one of redemption (a theme well suited to a movie treatment) and her sense of superiority would translate into hilarious on-screen dialogue, there is zero chance of seeing her in the Avengers movie series. Leaving aside her sexual orientation - which the MCU might not be brave enough to mention - there is the obvious issue of her being a confident, capable female character, and the MCU just doesn't have many of those. This unfortunate sexism rules out her appearing and that's a real shame, because Moondragon has another, intriguing connection with the current meta-plot of the Phase 3 films: Thanos murdered Heather Douglas's human parents when she was young and, as it turns out, he put the soul of her human father into the body of Drax the Destroyer. Yes, the dead family that Drax talks about - that's Heather and her mum. Drax just doesn't know Heather is still alive!
