20 Awesome 80s Movies Which Defined Our Childhood

11. Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi

LucasfilmLucasfilmWe're all well aware of the fact that Return of the Jedi isn't the best out of the original trilogy, just as most of us will concur - with rare exceptions - that The Empire Strikes Back is the best by a clear margin. But with that said, just as younger audiences weren't offended by Jar Jar Binks as much as older fans, neither were kids in the 80s particularly put off by the inclusion of the Ewoks. What Return of the Jedi lacked in sophistication and character development it more than made up for in its spectacular action set pieces, of which there were plenty. From the Rancor monster in Jabba's Palace and the fight over the Sarlacc Pit through to the epic final battle panning out on the surface of Endor and around the Death Star, us kids certainly got plenty of excitement for our hard-earned pocket money. We might feel a tinge of regret now for lining the pockets of George Lucas by buying countless Star Wars toys, but we wouldn't swap those memories of flying speeder bikes under the kitchen table, weaving it between the legs, for anything.
