9. Commando
20th Century FoxThe 1980s was arguably the decade in which the action movie reigned supreme, and the king of the genre was undoubtedly Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose towering presence dominated several of the greatest action films of the decade. Choosing which of these most defined our 80s childhood is certainly a difficult task, and while Predator is perhaps the better film, it is Commando that sticks in the mind for many of us today, as memorable as the wonderfully bad line, "Stick around, Bennett!" As kids growing up in the 80s we were all far too innocent to have cottoned on to the homoerotic undercurrent running through the action movies of the time, where glistening muscular flesh was fetishised by lingering camerawork. After all, we were far more concerned with the death-defying action sequences and cool weaponry, and Commando had all of this in bucket loads. With more quotable lines than any other Arnie movie it entertained us for repeated viewings - it's also very funny (intentionally or otherwise), not least with the overly camp, chainmail vest-wearing villain Bennett, who looks like he's stepped out of an audition for the Village People. Silly 80s action doesn't come much better.
