20 Awesome Horror Movies That Never Got Sequels
19. Black Christmas
Black Christmas is a seminal slasher movie that's never really gotten the mainstream appreciation it deserves, despite predating Halloween by four years.
This is at least in part because despite its box office success, Black Christmas was never exploited into a franchise of movies, due to original director Bob Clark having no desire to spin the film off into a series.
And so, while it's since been remade - terribly - twice, the 1974 Black Christmas has never had a direct, official follow-up of any kind, making it an incredible rarity in the horror genre.
Given that commercially successful slashers almost always get sequelised, it makes Black Christmas all the more of a fascinating outlier, especially considering its utterly pivotal standing in the horror canon.
And with the passing of lead actress Olivia Hussey in 2024, it's also fair to say that any slim prospect of a belated legacy sequel ala Halloween 2018 has now evaporated.
