14. Captain Koons- Pulp Fiction
Certainly one of my personal favourites when in comes to Tarantino characters. The reason for this is not only because he is played by one of the most awesome people alive, the legendary Christopher Walken, but also because although Koons screen time is very limited, he is only in one scene in the entire film, which lasts for under five minutes, but for every second that he is on the screen he captivates not only a young Butch, but also the audience. What makes Walkens brief time on our screens so memorable is that Tarantino gives the character a monologue which begins very sombre and serious, and talks of war, heritage and the death of a young boys father, and then, as only Tarantino can do, have it somehow end by hilariously stating how a gold watch had been shoved up multiple peoples asses for seven years cumulatively. Much like the Klu Klux Klan scene in Django, Tarantino takes history and its atrocities and through his characters, shows a lighter, more humorous side to life.
