20 Best Female Characters In Comic Book Movies - Ranked

18. Judge Barbara Hershey

Again, hear us out. Sylvester Stallone's horrible Judge Dredd 'adaptation' is rightly remembered as one of the worst comic book movies of all time, discarding everything people loved about the character and original stories in favour of a stupid, annoying Demolition Man rip-off with Rob Schneider as a comedy sidekick. Look closely, however, and the film does get the occasional tidbit right...

Namely, Diane Lane's Judge Barbara Hershey. A younger, less stoic Hershey than we've become accustomed to of late, but still mostly recognisable as one of Dredd's most trusted colleagues. Lane does a great job with what little she's dealt, taking the film's stupidities with dignity and gravitas. We could have done without the kiss at the end, but of all the many, many, many things Judge Dredd gets wrong, its version of young Hershey isn't one of them.
