20 Best Female Characters In Comic Book Movies - Ranked

16. Jean Grey (Famke Janssen)

Comic Book Females
20th Century Fox

Spoiler: this list isn't going to have many X-Men on it. What was a fantastic cast of rich, diverse and iconic women in the comic books sadly hasn't translated quite so well over to the silver screen. Storm, portrayed by a passionless, wooden Halle Berry. Rogue, who didn't even remotely resemble her comic book counterpart. And Jennifer Lawrence, woefully out of her depth in a role extended to account for her sudden popularity.

Which makes Famke Janssen's Jean Grey one of the few X-(wo)Men to make the cut. And much of this is down to Janssen's classy, ice cool performance rather than the writing or character work. Had Singer returned in time for Last Stand, maybe the series would have pulled off its Phoenix storyline better. As it is, she's the best thing about a very bad movie (Ian McKellen aside) and a good thing about two great ones.

The less said about Sophie Turner and that accent, the better.
