16. Finnick Gets Devoured - The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2
As Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and co. descend into the sewer system on their way to the Capitol, they find themselves attacked by a fleet of grotesque lizard creatures. They fight gallantly to fend them off, with Finnick (Sam Claflin) using his trident to destroy a number of the beasties. However, Finnick ends up being the last of the group to escape up a ladder, and as a result is dragged back down into the water by several of the monsters. As he gets devoured, Katniss decides to spare him by throwing the Holo into the water and saying "nightlock" three times, transforming it into an explosive device and ending his pain. Though the Hunger Games movies have pulled plenty of punches over the years, this was pure brutality and one of the few deaths in the franchise to actually convey the anguish of the source material.
