Christian Bale gives a typically chameleonic performance in this riveting sports crowd-pleaser as eccentric British driver Ken Miles, striking a fantastic balance between the man's oft-difficult personality and his undeniable charm.

The accent takes some getting used to, but if you think Bale's doing anything close to an exaggerated caricature performance, just Google some footage of the real Miles talking and you'll appreciate how well it represents the man.

Opposite both Matt Damon's Carroll Shelby and Noah Jupe, who plays his son, Bale is a force-of-nature throughout the film, ensuring the humanity is never lost amid the extremely sexy car chase sequences.
