20 Best Movie Posters Of 2015
The absolute cream of this year's poster crop.
It's been a banner year (sorry) for cinema foyers in 2015. One-sheets lining the walls of the esteemed local picturehouse have run the gamut from eye-catching and colourful to morose and creative. Sure, there's been the standard over-reliance on photoshop and BIG WORDS OVER A FACE, but marketing departments are being as adventurous these days as they are cliché. It's almost an even 50/50 split, judging from this year's offerings. In that lot there's been a few emerging trends, including the overlaid, True Detective-inspired 'quadruple exposure' (for lack of a better description). There's also notably been some innovative uses of font, as evidenced by Westerns and indies alike. Mostly there's been a noticeable uptick in actual artistic quality and integrity, in contrast with the last couple years' glut of Adobe mediocrity. Sure enough there'll be another list where I break down the 20 worst posters of the year, but for now, let's pay tribute to the ones that really deserve a round of applause.
