5. The Mitchells Vs. The Machines

Oxygen Melanie Laurent
Netflix

A strong contender in the race for next year's Best Animated Film Oscar, The Mitchells vs. The Machines is a freakin' delightful animation from producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Centered around the titular dysfunctional family as they attempt to save the world from a global robot uprising, this is an insanely energetic, visually stunning, consistently hilarious adventure-comedy.

Feel-good without ever getting too sentimental, and somehow peppy-as-hell without ever being annoying about it, The Mitchells vs. the Machines is an animated film sure to be enjoyed near-equally by youngsters and adults. A witty, affecting crowd-pleaser with intelligence and artistry emerging from its every pore.

Particular shoutout to Olivia Colman, who is hilarious as the villainous virtual assistant PAL.
