1. Mad Max: Fury Road
Batman Alum: Tom Hardy A dazzling display of flesh-and-bone stunt work amidst beautifully rendered post-apocalyptic landscapes, Mad Max: Fury Road doesn't just dazzle your eyes, it melts your whole damn face. Every aspect of this movie carries an element of ridiculousness and intensity that will likely remain unrivaled for years to come. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are the credited stars, obviously, but it's the cinematography that deserves top billing. There's not a single scene in this movie that won't wow you in some way, shape, or form. The dangerous and innovative stunts are fully gripping (mostly because they're allowed to breathe, unlike the indecipherable melee of most modern action scenes), and the long stretches of desert only help to highlight the craziness that's front-and-center. Hardy doesn't have to do a whole lot in this movie, as the stoic, mostly silent passenger in this harrowing, doomsday adventure. And while it's tough to beat the original Max as played by Mel Gibson in the first installment, Hardy is more than serviceable in the role. And really, that's all he needs to be.
